and has been in the family for 40+ years. We have traded as Globe Home Timber & Hardware (Globe HTH) since June 2011 taking pride in continuously improving the shopping experience with a focus on customer service excellence.
The business is owned and operated by the 2nd generation of family members and with that, has had a change in location to the current premises at 108 Galena St Broken Hill.
Globe is located on a historical site that previously functioned as a power plant. In order to prepare the property for its current use the giant sheds had to be repurposed – the cool rooms removed, sheds renovated and racking and storage installed.
Now, in 2023 we are proud to announce a transition to a Mitre 10 store. It’s a great change and a result of years of planning and a huge commitment and matching efforts from the Globe team to ensure the transition, store and product range upgrades took place with minimum inconvenience to our customers. It’s a wonderful opportunity to provide extended and new ranges of retail hardware, building materials, paint & accessories, home and décor products to our customers.
The garden and outdoor centre is a work in progress but will no doubt satisfy our customers once it’s completed.
We have an extensive range of pool and spa chemicals, accessories and equipment also providing a complementary water testing service for customers.
We have dedicated team members working in our kitchen and laundry design area and add on services include gas refills & Swap’n’Go, basic joinery & machining; key cutting; delivery within the local region; gift cards, water testing a the Mighty Rewards Program. In addition, payment options offered include Zip payments, Afterpay & Humm.
A 2010 article in the Barrier Daily Truth titled ‘Globe Timber Mill, An Icon of Business in the City’ ends with “…One hundred and twenty years have passed since the original wood yards supplied timber to our then pioneer town, and putting it into context, about 80 per cent of the buildings and most of the mines in this city would have Globe timber in them. So much has changed in its corporate structure through those years but Globe remains an icon of business in our city.”
This is still true today as we respond to the changing needs of our customers.
